Meet our best-performing wine

A stellar day at the Clare Wine Show 2022 topped off an outstanding debut for the Penna Lane Watervale Riesling 2022.

In what is widely regarded as an exceptional year for riesling, the Watervale swept the field at Clare, to win 4 trophies, including the Jim Barry Trophy for the Best Wine in Show, the Mick Knappstein Trophy for the Best Current Vintage Riesling, the Trophy for Best Riesling of Show and the Trophy for Best Single Vineyard Wine.

This followed a Gold medal at the Royal Adelaide Wine Show in October.

Chair of the judging panel at Clare, Steven Pannell, said an impressive group of wines had been presented at this year’s show, praising the riesling and cabernet varieties.

“The 2022 rieslings were particularly strong,” Mr Pannell said.

“The stylish nature of these wines and the purity of their varietal character show the strength of the beautiful Clare Valley as a riesling stronghold.”

Don’t miss your opportunity to enjoy some of this wine – we sold out of the Watervale 2021 last year and, not unexpectedly, we already have strong demand for the Watervale 2022.
