We had a big day out at the annual Clare Wine Show, which was held on Friday 11th October this year.
Both our 2019 Rieslings, the Skilly Valley and the Watervale, were awarded gold medals in the current vintage Riesling class and the Skilly was subsequently awarded the trophy for the Best Current Vintage Riesling in Show.
Plus, Penna Lane Wines was awarded the trophy for Best Small Producer.
We were pretty chuffed. As another Clare Valley winemaker said – ‘it makes chasing those grapes to processing in the middle of the night all worth it!’ And even more gratifying given that vintage 2019 was quite tricky, with hot and dry conditions leading into harvest. Mind you, vintage 2020 looks like it may be similar, as it is shaping up to be another hot, dry summer. This time next year we might know whether the harvest gods have smiled on us again, or not.
